Orewa Community Hall Roof Restoration
Orewa, Auckland
The roof looked finished. An inspection proved it wasn't. Restored with MMP Panel Bond Bandage and Rust-Oleum Noxyde® instead of being sent to landfill.
Tired, but not finished
The torch-on bitumen membrane roof at the Orewa Community Hall was looking tired after years of exposure to New Zealand's harsh weather. With its weathered appearance and ageing surface, it was initially thought the entire roof would need replacing.
Before committing to a costly replacement, the roof was professionally inspected. The result? The existing membrane was still structurally sound. The problem wasn't the roof itself — it simply needed restoration and long-term protection.
Reinforce, then coat
Rather than sending thousands of square metres of roofing material to landfill, the existing membrane was thoroughly cleaned and restored using the Rust-Oleum Noxyde® waterproofing coating.
All vulnerable joints, repairs and detailing were reinforced with MMP Panel Bond Bandage before the roof received a seamless application of Noxyde. The flexible elastomeric membrane created a fully waterproof, UV-resistant coating designed to move with the roof while protecting it from further weathering. Unlike conventional roof coatings, Noxyde remains flexible throughout its life, helping prevent cracking while extending the service life of the existing roof.
A renewed roof, no replacement
The Orewa Community Hall received a completely renewed waterproof roof without the cost, disruption and environmental impact of a full roof replacement.
The seamless Noxyde coating restored the roof's appearance, sealed vulnerable areas and delivered a durable waterproof membrane designed to protect the building for many years to come.

NoxydeNoxyde Anti-Corrosion Coating
Paint straight over prepared rust, stopping corrosion for decades.
Noxyde is the only anti-corrosion waterproofing membrane on the market that can be applied directly over clean, prepared rust — no separate primer required. For over 29 years it has protected New Zealand's most severe coastal environments, from saltwater estuary bridges to iconic steel roofs. It is also used to extend the life and safely encapsulate asbestos roofs, locking fibres in place and adding decades of waterproof protection without the cost of removal.
