Can be applied directly to prepared rust. Stop corrosion for decades.
When steel starts to rust, most coatings simply hide the problem — Noxyde® Plus is engineered to stop it. Built on the performance that has protected New Zealand structures for decades, it brings the latest European coating technology for greater corrosion resistance, stronger adhesion and improved long-term performance. Used in the same places as Noxyde: rusty iron roofs, structural steel, industrial plant and commercial buildings.
Problems it solves
- Rusting iron roofs owners are told to replace
- Corroding steel, galvanised and metallised structures in harsh marine environments
- Coatings that crack or peel as substrates expand and contract
- Older anti-corrosion coatings with hazardous lead, chromate or zinc pigments

Surface preparation & application
| Cleaning | Remove grease, oil, dirt, dust and contamination by alkaline or high pressure (steam) cleaning to max 200 bar (2,900 psi) with appropriate detergents. |
| Rust removal | Substrate must be free of loose, flaking rust — sandblasting (Sa2), manual cleaning (St2) or high-pressure water jetting min. 600 bar (8,700 psi). Substrate must be dust free. |
| New galvanised / zinc / aluminium / stainless | Apply a first coat of Pegalink or PVDF Primer. |
| Ferrous substrates | Apply Noxyde Plus in red or grey as the first coat, then contrasting colours for subsequent coats to ensure full, consistent coverage. |
| Conditions | Air, substrate and coating between 8–35°C (46–95°F); surface at least 3°C above dew point; relative humidity not greater than 80%. |
| Film build | Minimum two coats for a total minimum DFT of 350 μm (14 mils). |
| Brush / roller | Good quality synthetic bristle brush or synthetic nap roller. Undiluted as a rust preventive paint; up to 20–25% water as an adhesion primer. |
| Airless spray | Undiluted. Nozzle 15–19, pressure min. 170 bar (2,500 psi). Air-atomized spray is not recommended. |
| Thinning | Normally not required. Up to 20–25% clean fresh water as a primer coat. |
| Clean-up | Water. |
Priming & topcoats
| Primer | Self-priming on minimally prepared rusted steel and aged galvanised steel. Dilute 20–25% with water as an adhesion primer on non-porous substrates. |
| Compatible topcoats | Recoatable with itself after 24 hours. Topcoat with Coating PRT, Alkythane 7500, Metal Cladding Topcoat, Paracem range, Pegacryl Satin or Zinsser Allcoat Exterior if higher gloss or colour is desired. |
| Tinting | Do not tint. |
