Why people choose it

Can be applied directly to prepared rust. Stop corrosion for decades.

When steel starts to rust, most coatings simply hide the problem — Noxyde® Plus is engineered to stop it. Built on the performance that has protected New Zealand structures for decades, it brings the latest European coating technology for greater corrosion resistance, stronger adhesion and improved long-term performance. Used in the same places as Noxyde: rusty iron roofs, structural steel, industrial plant and commercial buildings.

Problems it solves

  • Rusting iron roofs owners are told to replace
  • Corroding steel, galvanised and metallised structures in harsh marine environments
  • Coatings that crack or peel as substrates expand and contract
  • Older anti-corrosion coatings with hazardous lead, chromate or zinc pigments

Advanced silane-modified acrylic technology

Noxyde® Plus creates a seamless, waterproof membrane that remains 200% elastic, allowing it to expand and contract with your building instead of cracking or peeling. The result is longer-lasting protection against rust, moisture and harsh New Zealand weather. Read the full comparison in our article on the difference between Noxyde and Noxyde Plus.

A major step forward environmentally

Unlike conventional anti-corrosion coatings, Noxyde® Plus is water-based, lead free, chromate free and zinc free, replacing older anti-corrosion pigments with advanced, environmentally responsible technology. It is no longer classified as a hazardous Class 9 product, making it safer to transport, safer to apply and kinder to the environment without compromising protection.

Why professionals choose Noxyde® Plus

  • Superior corrosion protection using the latest anti-corrosion pigment technology
  • Outstanding adhesion to rusted, galvanised and previously painted steel
  • Forms a seamless waterproof membrane that helps prevent future corrosion
  • Remains 200% elastic to resist cracking and peeling
  • Excellent coverage around bolts, welds and difficult steel profiles
  • Water-based, low VOC and environmentally responsible
  • Lead, chromate and zinc free
  • High dirt resistance keeps surfaces looking cleaner for longer
  • Fast drying with excellent productivity on large projects
  • Proven to perform in demanding marine, industrial and commercial environments
  • Manufactured to meet strict European environmental and performance standards

Protect your asset for the long term

Replacing steel is expensive. Downtime is disruptive. Corrosion never stops. Noxyde® Plus gives owners, contractors, specifiers and experienced DIY property owners a smarter alternative — advanced protection that extends the life of valuable steel assets while reducing environmental impact. It's the latest evolution of one of the world's most trusted anti-corrosion coating systems, designed to keep roofs, buildings and steel structures performing for years to come.

Also a bonding primer

For interior and exterior use. Diluted with 20–25% clean water it can also be used as an adhesion primer coat on slightly or non-porous substrates such as glass, smooth bricks and concrete, ceramics and tiles. Noxyde Plus can be top coated with multiple Rust-Oleum high performance products for extended service life.

Surface preparation & application

CleaningRemove grease, oil, dirt, dust and contamination by alkaline or high pressure (steam) cleaning to max 200 bar (2,900 psi) with appropriate detergents.
Rust removalSubstrate must be free of loose, flaking rust — sandblasting (Sa2), manual cleaning (St2) or high-pressure water jetting min. 600 bar (8,700 psi). Substrate must be dust free.
New galvanised / zinc / aluminium / stainlessApply a first coat of Pegalink or PVDF Primer.
Ferrous substratesApply Noxyde Plus in red or grey as the first coat, then contrasting colours for subsequent coats to ensure full, consistent coverage.
ConditionsAir, substrate and coating between 8–35°C (46–95°F); surface at least 3°C above dew point; relative humidity not greater than 80%.
Film buildMinimum two coats for a total minimum DFT of 350 μm (14 mils).
Brush / rollerGood quality synthetic bristle brush or synthetic nap roller. Undiluted as a rust preventive paint; up to 20–25% water as an adhesion primer.
Airless sprayUndiluted. Nozzle 15–19, pressure min. 170 bar (2,500 psi). Air-atomized spray is not recommended.
ThinningNormally not required. Up to 20–25% clean fresh water as a primer coat.
